Was in town for a business trip and walked in to the restaurant as our hotel staff suggested. Food was delicious and the interior was just perfect. Not too much decor as some places. Very pleasant vibe to the place.
We had beef tartar and scallops. All was good with a pleasant bottle of wine to match.
Stopped in to get a burger and fries. Waited over 20 minutes to have the most disgusting tasteless burger known to mankind. Not even Ketchup, mustard or relish helped this burger. The bun tasted like it had been toasted the day prior.
The fries I purchased was a small. And they meant small. The top layer looked not bad but below was the scrapings from the last several days out of the bottom of the fryer.
$10 meal deal was no deal. McDonalds would have been a better choice.
I am a regular Sunday breakfaster at Piper's. Last Sunday, I wanted to go beyond the classic 'two eggs over easy'. I asked for the BLT Breakfast sandwich. The waitress had no idea what it was and had to show it to her on the menu. When I indicated that I wanted the split sausage as the meat option, her answer "You also want sausages with the sandwich'. Again, I explained to her the meat option showing on the menu. The end result ... at least 20 minutes and three cups of coffee later (others who had arrived after me had already been served), I was still waiting for the sandwich. I decided 'enough is enough' and I left the restaurant very displeased.
PS The Food, Value and Ambiance do not apply here but the NONE option is not accepted
Have been a dedicated customer since the shop opened 5 years ago. Truly an owner invested business, Rosemary is the heart of the shop! Glad to hear they are moving April 01st 2016 just down the road, less than a 2 minute drive. The new shop at 2211 Arch Street is going to be twice the size, with more free parking and an outdoor patio to enjoy lunch on a beautiful day!
Can't wait to follow 3 Sisters to Arch Street, here's to another 5 years in the neighbourhood!
Jan 29, 2016 at 11:15am my Brother stepped on a cockroach in between the salad bar and the noodle bar. Didn't see any more but one was enough for us as where there is one there must be others. We will not be back if cockroaches are in the dining area, can only imagine what the kitchen is like.
Went there with friends last night and the meal I ordered had plastic inside. I put it aside thinking it might be just one occasion and took a second and a third bite, it had the same issue. When I brought it to their attention, instead of apologizing, the owner was explaining why the plastic was inside. Apparently, it was in the freezer so they wrap the food and the new cook forgot to remove the plastic wrap before cooking. They actually asked me if I want another one instead of saying we will make you a fresh one. So of course, I returned and requested that I want a fresh piece. So while my friends are eating their meal, I am waiting for mine. When the bill came, any other fine restaurant would have most likely would have given the meal at no charge or give a discount for what happened. They billed me for the entire amount and when I brought this to their attention, the waiter (the owner's son) was really argumentative and rude and asked if I have ever worked in the restaurant as he has never seen this where the meal is free. He said it was a new cook so how is that my problem? So if it's a new cook, then all the meals should be given at a discount price to everyone since the quality is not the same. I think it was just an excuse as I only saw the owner cooking in the kitchen as it was right in front of our table. The argument with the owner and waiter went on for about 10 mins as this restaurant didn't care about customer service. They said I still got a fresh piece and ate my food. Wow with this kind of customer service, they must do really well. So I paid my bill with no tip and will never again eat there as they serve frozen food. Looked like it was bought at costco and reheated and charge their customer extensively high. The worst restaurant I have been in my life.
Also, while we were eating our food, as the kitchen was right in front of our table, noticed the owner (also the cook), while preparing the food also was tasting it as well. I had mentioned that to my friends while eating and not realizing how the end would have resulted.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Hated it!"
The Fish Market has so many good things going for them. Not only is it in great location in the Byward Market, which makes for a perfect spot to bring tourists and people from out of town, but the view if seated by the window is incredibly nice. This used to be one of my favourite restaurants for seafood (who could argue against their lobster?) but the quality has gone downhill since my last visit. Service is still good but one does feel like they are paying more than what they are getting in return. The decor is tired and could do with some updating.
Had A Ruben Sandwich - They never heard of putting a Thousand Island like dressing on it.
What is a Ruben without the dressing. You might as well not have mustard available for the Smoke Meat.
WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! A proper dressing for the Ruben would not cost anymore than the Mustard and Mayo. Please let`s consider this when you are trying to pull off a Ruben.
Do not trust the Dairy Queen/Orange Juluis at the Carlingwood Mall Location in Ottawa for your special occasion. The customer service I received was almost as ugly as the cake! The owner told me on the phone, to SHUT-UP when he is talking. Hopefully he prefers wrtining. Buyer please be aware of where you spend your hard earned money!! This is "No Exaggeration"!
I will never shop here ever again.
I bought a package of smokes at this location on September 27 during rib fest in the evening here in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
The gentlemen there had the debit card reader under the counter and I thought to myself thats sketchy.
Fast forward to today - December 10th. Card gets flagged for illegal activity in INDIA? Bank calls me to say my card has been deactivated and they must send me another one by mail. On December 10th!! Right during christmas time! Wonderful. Thanks asshat at this store for screwing up my bank card.
I know that it was your store EXACTLY as the bank could tell me the exact amount and the date the transaction happened that had fraudulent activity happen, and because I keep such detailed records in my finances in Quickbooks I could flag exactly where I was that day and what store I was in and the exact address it happened in. I could pick you out in a line up if I had to. That is how good my memory is.
Guess they poached card numbers and sold my card info to someone.
You picked the wrong person to skim a bank card on idiot.
Colonnade Pizza for me is what I order when I am craving a mediterranean pizza. No one makes it as good as here. There are also other flavors as well that are good, like the sante fe. This one comes with hot banana peppers for example. Add extra cheese, and you get a delicious pizza. I have never eaten here, just ordered take-out by the way.
8 locks has entered my book and become one of my new favorite hangout places. The view here is unparalleled: after all, it is located right next to the canal. I love coming here and just relaxing in the patio, enjoying the view while sipping on some beer. This is where I love to frequent especially in the summer. Yeah, my idea of heaven.
Food is alright but nothing to write home about. To be quite honest I don't really come here for the food, but more so for the ambience. Nonetheless, their salads and soups are something I order a lot.
Finally,my only tip or piece of advise would be to come by foot or bike, not by car, as parking can be tricky.
Why are there no reviews for this place???
I am thankful for places like these that give Ottawa residents a chance for a change. While this can be confused and passed off as just another shawarma place (which are quite in abundance if you may ask), it is not. This little hole in the wall provides outstanding Afghan food. The meats are considerably superior in quality and gives all the other places in the area a run for their money.
I love getting the lamb kabob with quorma. For $15 like the one for this plate, prices are reasonable and maybe even a little cheap. I mean, each plate comes with a series of other stuff: naan, rice and a nice salad.
It might not be the best looking for most attractive place in Ottawa, but it still manages draws a crowd. How, you may ask? Answer:Their famous sandwiches! There's a reason why Dirienzo is so popular in Ottawa. It combines everything someone wants when they just want to get a quick bite to eat: fast service, inexpensive and most importantly good.
Although it is important to note that not only do they sell sandwiches here, it is what they are mainly known for. There is also a series of pastas to choose from. Going back to the sandwiches though, they are $5 goodness. I liked going for the #10 with marbled cheese.
Your chicken burgers are so good its insane, your poutines make me so happy, your fries make me love you more and more everyday, your swedish berries make me so happy. Your chicken burger special with a can for five dollars is so so so so so good!! i love you so much sachi, keep it up :)
We ordered a large pizza half Canadian and half Meat Lovers.
The Canadian ended up being a Combination pizza (instead of bacon they added green peppers) and the Meat Lovers was only pepperoni and ham (supposed to be pepperoni, ham, bacon, and italian sausage). The pizza was very salty and bland. The crust was very dry. Even Dominos has better pizza than this place!
Horrible customer service, they try to scam you in every way possible.
Bad people running a bad business.
As soon as I unwrapped the shawerma, everything fell apart and it was impossible to eat.The bread was so old and weak the bread couldnt even hold up on its own. and the garlic was so watery and tasted nothing like garlic. the hummos was disgusting and had nothing to do with chickpeas. the friggin potatoes are old and are probably microwaved 100 times to stay 'looking' like theyre new!!!!!!!!! your food is GARBAGE!!! It is SUCH a RIPOFF , im NEVER going there again and I made sure i told my friends not to go there!! I hope the owner reads this. You shouldnt be selling garbage food , you're ruining the reputation of a shawarma. that is NOT what a shawarma is supposed to taste like. YOUR SHAWARMA IS TERRIBLE. YOU SHOULD CLOSE DOWN and just keep the convenience store.
The franchise owner is rude and lacks customer service. I was there to buy ground coffee. I wanted to check on the texture of the grinded coffee. She then proceeded to inform me that there would be NO refund/exchanges if I was dissatisfied with the texture of the ground coffee. She also told me that she was fine if I never came back to the store and that I inform others of her lack of customer service. She then told me she had a long day and that she was done talking to me. I had a long day as well but I do not go out of my way to be rude to others, especially when I have my 5 year old son with me.
The young man that had served me was kind however, the older gentleman (I'm assuming the owner) took over when I was finishing up with my debit transaction. Like a previous poster stated, he isn't very customer friendly. Complained after the transaction went through already that I didn't pay enough. I owed $2.50 more. Which surprised me because every other shawarma place I go to I've gotten bread and drinks (and more food) for less than he suggested. I had no change - which is why I paid with debit in the first place. Finally he said 'next time' obviously frustrated - and hesitant to even give me the food. Once I got to my car and thought about it though, I see no mistake on my bill. I paid the right amount. One plate was $11.99 and the other $10.99 - totalling $26.00. It worked out perfectly. I'm not sure where he supposed I owed more money. Very unfriendly person. Generally, I've never been able to eat more than half a plate from any other shawarma place but this time I finished it. I now understand why it's never busy there - and I won't be going back!
There is a male barista who works at this location and I need to know his name... for science. He is brown, has a beard. and I know he goes to Ottawa u. Does anyone know this guy's name??
If you know him, you could hook a sistah up :p
