I order the same five thing every time I go to Sushi 5. After a year and a half of ordering the same meals, one would think that they wouldn't need to be reminded of the simple changes that I like. But every time I don't remind them of the changes, they default to their pre programming and I find out later how wrong they were....again. I don't know if I'm not spending enough money there, or 15% tips or too small for them to bother continuing with my business but within 100 meters of Sushi 5 are four other Japanese restaurants that don't seem to forget my changes.. And the attitude that I get from the younger server (millennial) when I point out how at some point they might want to remember a "former" regulars order is the new normal for service industry now a days. They will be loosing out on approx $1300 per year in business. Even McDonalds has better employee manners. It's just that their food will kill you
Palki always had great food and service but last weekend we had the good fortune to be served by their new Server, Jeet. What a treat it was. He is hilarious and yet respectful and totally attentive. Consider yourself lucky if you get his table. We have tried Butter Chicken at so many Indian Restaurants but none come close to the Butter Chicken at Palki. Then again, all of their dishes are well prepared. Kudos to Palki.
Well we just came from the Tomahawk Restaurant in North Van. Soon as we walked in there was a staff hostess greeting all at the front door. Very friendly smile and asked us just to wait a moment, while they clean a booth for us. I only had a moment or two to look over all the wonderful items up front, sure brought back wonderful childhood memories. We were seated and a lovely young lady was a server. She was so pleasant and tentative to our needs. We were asked several times if our meal was to our liking and if we needed anything else. Everyone was so kind and smiles all around. The food, well it was out of this world. It was enough for 2 people at least. Very tasty and delicious. Was well worth the price. I enjoyed the fabulous bacon, out of this world tasty and tender. I would recommend this to all.
the previous owners set the bar and left some big shoes for the new owner to fill. so far its not even close.
it used to be a great spot to get a quick cup of fresh coffee but now its the slowest process on lonsdale, I guess when there is only one staff working who has to do the til as well as make the coffee and god forbid if someone in line orders a gelato, your waiting close to 10 minutes for your americano
I have seen evidence of rat droppings on the floor, and I have overhead the owner saying they have a serious rat problem. he has seen the rats running all over the counters and even in the gelato coolers. We will not eat the baked goods anymore nor will we eat the gelato.
the owner seems to only hire young inexperience baristas which is fine if you give them the training but I dont want them training on my 4 dollar espresso. teach them after hours so my espresso isnt burnt or too hot.
when we order a cappicino, I want dont want a latte.
The previous owners would always make the temperature so the espresso was drinkable right away, not this owner. If I wanted to burn my mouth I would go to Starbucks.
the service is 1-2 stars out of 5 at best unless you are lucky enough to get Salvatore or his sister who definitely know what they are doing and know how to make a delicious Americano.
the atmosphere has dropped to 1-2 stars, unless there is a football (soccer) match on, then its ok. otherwise many of the regular clients have found another coffee shop.
food and gelato we wont touch because of the rats.
coffee depends on who is your barista, but 2-3 stars average unless Salvatore is your barista.
the new red seats outside are extremely uncomfortable..too bad it was a nice spot to sit and watch the passerbys.
Suggestions to the new owner
if it isnt broke, dont fix it. you didn't need to change anything.
Time to find a new coffee shop.
Burgers and fries are not exactly hi end dining but the prices charged here are expensive for what you get. The burger was ok, that's it. Fries ok. Expensive meal though. Service was mediocre at best. New oWners?
AnOther patron went out for smoke, right outside the door, we asked the manager to deal with the cigarette smoke blowing into restaurant. She did nothing about it, patron threw his smoke on the ground and didn't put it out, smoke lingered into the restaurant for minutes and again we asked the patron to put it out and then the manager after the patron gave us attitude. Manager did nothing Again. It's probably her son who needs a lesson in manners.
The type of customers this little shack is attracting will prevent us from returning ever again.
I might be shooting myself in the foot by telling the world how amazing this place is. Tucked away in the Delbrook Plaza, only minutes away from the hustle bustle of Westview Shopping Centre and Edgemont Village, this is a haven with its cozy ambience and French touch. These two ladies know what they're doing. Oh, did I mention AMAZING sandwiches and delicious coffee?
We've never ordered from Pizza Garden before but reviews for the pizzas seemed good although tempered by a number of complaints about the poor delivery service. So we ordered takeout to be safe. Two extra-large pies, a Parma Prosciutto and a Pizza Magic, for 5 people. We probably could have eaten most of a third pie, it was so good.
If you're expecting Pizza Hut style pizza, look elsewhere. Ready for pickup in literally mere minutes, it was classic Neapolitan pizza, thin smoky and crispy bubbled-up crust fired super hot for a couple minutes in a red hot wood oven with minimalist toppings. In Naples the crust is the starring canvas and the rich pomodoro (tomato) sauce, fresh soft mozzarella and flavourful toppings paint it. The Parma Prosciutto had a rich pomodoro sauce finished with fresh mozza and arugula but they were a bit too minimalist on the ham for my liking. The Pizza Magic was a loaded vegetarian pie with a rich herby basil, artichoke and spinach topping, probably the best of the 2 although opinions differed.
Tab for the two pies for 5 people was just under $50 so that's pretty good value for dinner for 5. Next time I think we'll try a Pepperoni and a Deli Italiano for more meat and heat. And maybe order that third pie just to be safe.
We had a wonderful breakfast at Tommy’s. It is a very small restaurant so the lineup seems to start very early on the weekend. When we left at 9:00 there was already a lineup. Service is efficient and quick. Coffee is self serve. I had the Mediterranean scramble, eggs scrambled with fresh tomatoes, spinach, feta cheese and onions. It was served with fried potatoes toast and tzatziki sauce on the eggs. My husband had waffles with bacon, fried eggs and potatoes. It was all very good.
There is only 1 washroom and if you are handicapped it might be challenging for you as you have to climb 2 stairs to get to it and the toilet is right in front of the sink. I do mean right in front, if you bend over while you are on the toilet you will probably bump your head on the sink.
It had many families when we were there. It is really a bustling scene but the food and service is very good.
The Oxtail served with basmati rice was fall-off-the-bone delicious, while the Marinated Pulled Pork Griot with garlic, green onions, jalapeño, jerk seasoning, and sweet peppers was the best I’ve ever had. Marquise Valmont, with roots in Martinique and Haiti, is a gifted chef who brings quality ingredients (60% organic) to her traditional dishes. She is clearly an asset on the culinary scene. Small complimentary glasses of sorrel juice provided a fitting finish to an exceptional meal and wonderful evening.
We just recently moved to the Grand Blvd area of North Vancouver.. after my husband and I went for a morning run, we stopped at this "bagel factory." The woman at the counter was too busy on a personal phone call to serve us properly. Treated us as if we were a nuisance. Terrible customer service aside, being from the east coast I know a good bagel and you will NOT find one here. Sorry, won't be back.
But with out the msg and heavy salt their food would taste like cheap Chinese food.
I gave up on the organge door because when ever I ordered it with out msg and salt...they added both. I know because I watch them cook it. And each time the cook reaches for the three cans of white products next to his wok.
One salt one sugar, and one msg. And each time.e eing the nice canadian, I except their lie about "this one not yours." I guess the last straw was she. I watched the driver walking into the kitchen, it Washing his hands and start chopping cutting, anfilling baskets for the cook, and using his jacketed-elbow to push stacks of u cooked food down I to containers for the cook. YUCK.
Just a regular burger, no expensive fries nor drinks. Sever bucks for half a burger. The rest I tossed. It use to be good. New owners? Who ever they are running this place have little idea of what a true Merican, burger should be.
I watched the girls cook one burger at a time...over a flame..and wondering if two or more burgers cooking at the same time would blow their minds.
Half an hour later I recieved a watery sloppy burger with the only flavour being the BBQ sauce that she was reluctant to add..
No charbroiled flavour, I guess they added too much liquids as a filler and steamed the burger instead and by the time it cooked, it was boiled.
Crap! I'll never ever go back. Why waste my money on boiled meat?
I ordered delivery from this restaurant and it was the worst "Szechuan"(if you can even call it that) food I have ever had. I ordered the Pad Thai and the g rated Kung Pow Chicken. The Pad Thai had so many bean sprouts the noodles barely existed..the noodles that lingered were under cooked at that. A child with a how to cook noodles for dumbies could cook better noodles. With a seasoning of laziness the chef threw huge obnoxious over cooked triangles of tofu that would be a down right crime to any vegetarian. That's not even the worst part..many of the sprouts were mouldy and had gone bad! I called the restaurant to complain and the delusional chef claimed that's how they come and asked if I had ever eaten pad thai before. Last I checked the sprouts weren't blue and sour tasting!! On to the Kung Pow..Barely any chicken and dry as the cracked dessert floor..was not even spicy at all making it just cooked chicken scraps with under cooked vegetables. Pathetic excuse for restaurant quality food..do me and your stomach a favour and never ever eat here.just terrible
My friend and I ate there last night. Although there was only one other occupied table in the entire restaurant, the hostess seated my friend and I were seated at a table in the back, against the back side wall. While we were eating our appetizer, two noisy men were seated at a table directly behind and to our side - only one arm's length away. Now there were only three fully occupied tables in the entire restaurant. The waiter was arrogant, haughty, and in our faces throughout our meal. My friend finished his dinner early and his plate was taken away, but not silently. We were interrupted many times with unnecessary comments, such as "I'll just take this away" and "Are you finished yet?" This is pretty much taboo in a good restaurant. Waiters should go about their tasks unnoticed and be 100% courteous and sensitive towards their customers. When my friend tried to pay his bill, there was a problem with the debit machine. He tried three times and the paper pumped out, "Transaction Not Completed." After the third try, the waiter announced to the entire restaurant, "DECLINED." I was so angry that I could barely contain the food I had just eaten there. The waiter is a sadist with a very very bad attitude. It wouldn't surprise me if he personally planned our entire evening to be miserable. In recent outings, I have not felt more like a second-class citizen than at La Cucina. The food was okay. Our meals came to combined total of $81. I will never go back and I do not recommend this restaurant unless you have very "thick skin."
Delivery service is very poor. Ordered at 6:30 on a Sunday evening, called at 7:30 to see if order left yet, we wanted to add something to order. We were told the order had left 5 minutes ago. Called back 30 minutes later to see where it was. We were told 10 more minutes. Asked to speak to a manager was told he didn't have time to chat after waiting on the phone for ten minutes. Hostess in a rude and sarcastic voice said they'd give us 25 % off when it arrived. 8:25pm order finally arrived. Food was stone cold, sent it back. This was the third time ordering using delivery, every time either the food is cold or food missing. Remembering you pay $4.00 for the service. Never again. Customer service poor, management is seriously lacking in customer retention. New restaurant facility but it's your delivery service that needs an overhaul.
I used to frequent Red Robin alot. When I started coming here 7 or 8 years ago, I would swear by their burgers and they were to die for. I also eat their salmon and chips too.
I must say; it really is a teenagers hang out.....I mean the staff is pretty young (which is fine) service tonight was terrible. I ordered salmon and chips....my friend had cod and chips and broccoli. it took the waitress 3 times to bring the fries out hot for them.....I don't mind if mine are cold; so that was ok.
The food quality has really gone down. Sometimes its not even enjoyable, and it is a little over priced for what its worth.....
Serivce was so no existent. waited forever for refills on fries and broccoli. my friend (and later on myself) had to get up and get our own cutlery (and myself later for napkins)
TERRIBLE, but of course past success will probably get me in here again at some point (unfortunately)
I ordered the #3 boxed lunch today. It contained two pieces of very greasy tempura, a greasy spring roll, a salad, chicken teriyaki, three potstickers, some ginger, and some wasabi. Alongside was a dipping sauce for the tempura. The wasabi was an unusual colour of mint green. The filling of the potstickers was grey. I have no idea what it was, but it was a tasteless mush. The dipping sauce tasted like water with a little brown colouring in it. The chicken teriyaki was cool to the touch, so maybe their temperatures should be checked out by Vancouver Coastal Health. I brought all of these issues to the attention of the waitress, a waiter, and the cashier. Nobody seemed to care. I asked both waitresses and the waiter what was in the tempura dipping sauce (because it was so horrid) and each one of them said, in a listless manner, "I don't know." The salad wasn't bad, but everything else was awful.
Although the foreign staff are very pleasant, after many hunger-driven, after-midnight trips to A&W, I have come to the conclusion that they don't understand or care how to construct a delicious, mouth-watering hamburger. Too much mayo sauce and oversized leaves of lettuce thrown into a bun with no care or pride whatsoever make for a slimy, mushy, stomach-churning mess. The late-night staff needs to be retrained by hamburger-eating chefs. I will not waste another dime on this place or any other North Vancouver A&Ws until they train their staff to make good, presentable hamburgers. The ingredients are good, the staff courteous, but their hamburgers are terrible and they shouldn't be. I blame the managers, who clearly don't seem to care any more than the staff do.
Every time we come to this place, we face the unfriendly reception. It is like we come here for charity, no, we come to pay for our food. I sit down and observe this very same type of attitude toward the other customers. The service is awful, they pretend we are not here. The food is outstanding, do not get me wrong, but the service is horrible. Why only on Lonsdale location are employees' attitudes very poor, the other locations are excellent. No wonder less and less people come here. The company should train these snobby people better before sending them out to work. The company's reputation depends on these people, doesn't it?
I only had 1/2 hour for lunch so I went for the go to meal which is Udon. Ordered the Nabeyaki udon, which came in a lukewarm salty broth and they didn't even bother to cook the onsen egg correctly - they substituted a fried egg instead!
Should have clued in that don't expect anything authentic when it is Chinese owners cooking Japanese food.
