Expensive, over rated, chip oil hasn't been changed in a long time, they just keep adding oil. Soggy chips. Fish just OK. Why would anyone enjoy this sub standard fare. Wake up people and look three doors down at any one of the much better Fish and Chippy. LAST TIME, thank goodness I didn't pay so didn't complain.
We had a nice meal on the patio on Canada Day. The restaurant is right on the Canada US border. You take the last exit before the crossing to the US.
The theme of the restaurant is very much horse racing and they have many posters inside the restaurant of various horse races and each table has a screen that has horse racing. I much preferred our seat outside on the patio. We were the only customers on the front patio so it was very nice.
The service was okay but not great. The water was not topped up at all during the course of our meal and when we ordered a bottle of wine our server did not even open the bottle and pour the first glass (I think that maybe a first, sometimes the server will not top up the wine but they always at least open the bottle and pour the first glass). The food that we had was very good. We started off with an appetizer of calamari and it was a generous portion of crispy tender calamari served with tzatziki sauce, onions and tomato. For entrees my husband had the barbecue spareribs that he said were very good. The ribs were nice and moist, it was very flavourful and it was a good sized portion. I had a pork chop with a cherry sauce. The pork chop was well cooked and the cherry sauce was well paired with the pork chop. It came with mashed potatoes, and grilled, cauliflower, carrots, broccoli and asparagus. The vegetables were really good as they were grilled and very tasty, not like overcooked steamed or boiled vegetables that you often get.
I don’t whether it was just the evening that we were there or if it is a regular Friday feature but they had a 3 course menu that included soup or salad, entrée (one entrée was rib steak with 2 prawns) and dessert for $22.00. Our entrees were $19.95 each and for the quality it was good value.
After we had finished our meal and were enjoying our wine the owner or manager came out to chat with us for awhile. It’s nice to know your business is appreciated.
It was a most enjoyable evening on the patio. If we returned I would try to get patio seating again.
Ordered 2 dishes one veg & other non-veg. Totally different dishes, but got exact same gravy, what a joke. Very bad service, chase for water. Had to stop eating & visit counter requesting for water. Almost felt like going to kitchen & getting water myself. Food taste was mediocre at best. Seems it was prepared in hurry, only 1 other family their not sure what caused it. Menu price was similar as Tasty Bistro, please think twice before you bring family or friends here. Wish we would have went for Bistro instead.
Time & money wasted, will never go back. I gave 3 for Ambiance cause honestly better compare to food, service & value.
If you want honest & neutral review, this is for you.
Don't ever go there! Bad attitude and racist! The owner is a bully!!! I was there with my elderly parents watching a EURO cup game. Before I ordered I asked the waitress if they will turn on the volume for the game and she said yes and they are trying to fix it so I ordered drinks but hold off on food until they get the system fixed - who want to watch the game with no volume!?!!? 15 mins late she said their owner is coming over to fix the system. 30 mins later that owner came but said they won't be putting the volume on and he said we need to order food otherwise we have to immediately pay for the drinks and leave. Instead of being apologetic, he actually bullied us when my dad complained that the waitress tricked us into ordering drinks with promise that volume on TV will be turned on. That bully got angry and threaten to call police to kick us out - two 75+ seniors who just want to feel the vibes to watch the game in a pub. We were lied to when the waitress promised twice the system will be fixed, we were bullied when the owner threatened us, we were offended when the bully called my parents names. This is no way to treat customers. I wanted him to follow through with his threats to call the police, he tried but apparently the police won't take his complaints so he left his own restaurant with tail between his legs. This bully owner is giving his own restaurant a bad name
I might be shooting myself in the foot by telling the world how amazing this place is. Tucked away in the Delbrook Plaza, only minutes away from the hustle bustle of Westview Shopping Centre and Edgemont Village, this is a haven with its cozy ambience and French touch. These two ladies know what they're doing. Oh, did I mention AMAZING sandwiches and delicious coffee?
As the review title says, the food was really good here but our server struggled with the service. We ordered a variety of dishes that we all shared including the bang bang prawns, fly rice, huli chicken and beef rib. All were very tasty and enjoyable.
The service on the other hand was brutal. Drink orders took 15 minutes or longer each round. Our bill took at least 20 minutes to get and then it had to be reprinted a couple of times because it was wrong.
Overall I would return because the food was great but I hope I don't have the same server.
Food is really good & tasty.
After Tasty Bistro this is next best thing as far as Food taste.
This place is for Breakfast & lunch.
Just be prepared for wait line on weekends during noon.
Special Bature & Amritsir Kulche. I always ask for well done if you like crispy.
Parking is problem as Payal center is always busy. They do not charge for tips, so you have to leave cash for waiters on table.
It was sad and frustrating. We came to give Milestones another chance. We asked to sit in the patio, which was covered in flies. Finally when the waitress came, as cheery as she was, it was 15 minutes after we sat down. We ordered two drinks and an appie...we waited another 10 minutes and finally the "owner" came and dropped off the wrong drinks.. We decided based on the very slow service to go and sit inside. After that we ordered a french onion soup($10) which tasted like the bottom of a burned soup pan- both bitter and burnt. The waitress kindly took it away with no real questions about our current satisfaction. We then asked for the bill, to avoid further gastronomic frustration...not even the manager asked why we were leaving...when initially we were there for the "date night 50$" deal. To me, this restaurant lacks vision, leadership amd care in its staff...they all look like they are there for a good time. We left and went to A Pasta Place across highway 10...where the customer service is stellar, food is consistent and fresh and we arent treated like we are doing YOU the favour of eating at yur restaurant... MILESTONES- last time we will ever be in your establishment. Thanks!
came here for a quick meal on a rainy saturday. there was a cockroach crawling up the wall - do not eat here under any circumstances! sadly the service is attentive but i cannot eat in a restaurant that has cockroaches crawling up walls - will report to the VCH as well
I will never go back to this restaurant. The waitress treated us like we were an inconvenience, got our order wrong and more or less ignored us. When the food came out, one main came 15 minutes prior to the other and the pizza we ordered was incorrect. When confronting the waitress with our predicament, she seem totally ambivalent about our experience. And at the end she was shocked that I provided no TIP ("to insure prompt service").
Ordered the butter chicken for $11. It effectively tasted like a $0.60 bowl of Campbell's canned tomato soup, with the equivalent of the amount of chicken on a single drumstick. Basically, a bowl of crappy soup with a few random pieces of chicken in it.
The owner smiled and did not care when I mentioned it and in fact pointed to another customer, saying they ordered it too and were not complaining. No attempt whatsoever to remedy the problem .
Their paapdi chaat appetizer was even worse -- looked like someone had watered down the yoghurt so the whole thing was tasteless and cheap tasting.
All in all, the people running this place have 0 sense of customer service and terrible cooks. I expect this restaurant will die off soon, as it deserves to.
Btw, being that I am Indian, I can tell you with 100% conviction that this is terrible Indian food -- try Baba sweets just a block up the street -- WAY WAY WAY better. I wanted to try this place just because it was new to give it a chance. Big mistake.
We've never ordered from Pizza Garden before but reviews for the pizzas seemed good although tempered by a number of complaints about the poor delivery service. So we ordered takeout to be safe. Two extra-large pies, a Parma Prosciutto and a Pizza Magic, for 5 people. We probably could have eaten most of a third pie, it was so good.
If you're expecting Pizza Hut style pizza, look elsewhere. Ready for pickup in literally mere minutes, it was classic Neapolitan pizza, thin smoky and crispy bubbled-up crust fired super hot for a couple minutes in a red hot wood oven with minimalist toppings. In Naples the crust is the starring canvas and the rich pomodoro (tomato) sauce, fresh soft mozzarella and flavourful toppings paint it. The Parma Prosciutto had a rich pomodoro sauce finished with fresh mozza and arugula but they were a bit too minimalist on the ham for my liking. The Pizza Magic was a loaded vegetarian pie with a rich herby basil, artichoke and spinach topping, probably the best of the 2 although opinions differed.
Tab for the two pies for 5 people was just under $50 so that's pretty good value for dinner for 5. Next time I think we'll try a Pepperoni and a Deli Italiano for more meat and heat. And maybe order that third pie just to be safe.
Visited with a (mainly European) family group today for late lunch/early dinner. We enjoyed everything we ordered. Some dishes surprised us with their spiciness. We received attentive service. This location is beautiful! Try it if you are on Scott Road and looking for a good Chinese meal.
* wife ordered burger on lettuce (gluten intolerant) came out on a bun
* replacement burger was raw (mine was slightly pink which is ok) - food safety issue
* ordered beer, they were changing the keg. Ok. No prob. Beer came out 25-30 mins later
* kid got a kids meal with ice cream sandwich which came out completely melted - food safety issue
* they comped us the burger (good), but discounted it $14 instead of the $16.50 it actually cost
I asked to speak to manager, and to her credit she comped the meal, but it was still a terrible experience. 1's across the board.
I went there for dimsum today with family and the restaurant served us SPOILED FOOD. It was completely disgusting. I found a hair inside a shrimp dumpling and THE MANAGER told me that it was my hair. I found it cooked inside the dumpling and pulled it out of the dumpling right in front of him. I used to love going here and the food used to be good, so I ordered what I normally did. I got three different types of shrimp dumplings and they were ALL SPOILED. I told the manager and he said that we should have told him earlier but we just tried it because it came out late. When we informed the manager he actually yelled at us and said that we should have told him earlier even though we waited over an hour for our food and it had just arrived.. This restaurant has seriously gone down hill and it's not recommended, because they serve spoiled food, and they offer horrible service.
It had been awhile since we have been to Hamilton Street Grill. They have a special promotion for the month of June - $20.00 for a Peppercorn Strip Loin with potatoes and vegetables. It is very good value. The steak is 8 – 10 oz. and was perfectly cooked and the vegetables were very good. The regular menu is a bit on the pricey side for the atmosphere. The restaurant is in Yaletown though so the rent in this area is pretty high. We shared an order of garlic butter shrimp with garlic toast and they were good. It was a very generous serving but as my husband said it was good but not great.
The service was good. The wine was topped up during the course of our meal but we just felt very rushed. The server also checked to see that our meals were satisfactory. We had just finished our appetizer and the steak was put on the table immediately. I felt it may have been sitting under a heat lamp waiting for us to finish our meal as my steak was lukewarm. We would just finish a dish and it would be taken away within a minute.
They charge fine dining prices but the setting is not really a fine dining venue. It is more of a casual dining ambiance. I would return and use my entertainment coupon or if they had a good promotion but I do feel that otherwise they are a bit overpriced for what they offer.
The evening we were dined there were only 6 tables occupied whereas the restaurant next door was packed with customers.
We were picking friends up in New West/Burnaby for dinner last Friday and they wanted to try something different so I searched for ethnic restaurants in the area and found the Abyssinia. Not many reviews but mostly good and in any event it's tough to go wrong with Ethiopian food so I made a reservation for 6 at 6. Parking is thin on Edmonds but we found a spot on the side street. The restaurant is small with seating for about 25 and it is tucked back from the street with a small patio in front. There was only one other table with a couple Ethiopian guys eating so we likely didn't need to make a reservation although it did secure us a large table at the window.
The sole Ethiopian hostess turned out to also be the cook but she was very friendly and had no problem getting us drinks, making recommendations and helping us select the right amount of food before retreating to the kitchen to prepare it. We ordered 2 vegetarian platters, 2 meat and veggie platters, a lamb Tibis and a signature beef Kitfo, all shared on a large Injera bread platter. We ordered some Tej (honey wine) and a couple Ethiopian beers for drinks to start.
Two of our friends had never had Ethiopian food and they were very impressed with the whole concept of sharing and eating with your fingers and pieces of Injera. Overall the food was excellent, a bit spicier than other Ethiopian restaurants we've eaten at but nothing we couldn't handle. The lamb Tibis was especially good and spicy and we fought over the last bit of the creamed spinach. Total bill for 6 with drinks and tip was $130 so it's good value. We highly recommend the Abyssinia.
Incredible food and atmosphere. The owners and staff are extremely kind and generous. Lots of vegan options too! Best veggie salad rolls I have ever had, could eat them every day. Veggie pho, buddha bowls, and rice dishes are all delicious as well. It's always a good experience. Definitely recommended, Dine here!!!
I often used to go here for lunch when I was going to school I went with Dad when he was home from working out of town and my Mom was at work my Mom and I came here lots I always enjoyed the chicken with French fries and corn on the cob and also a chicken burger. .
I have purchased pastries from here twice, and both times they were outstanding. There are suddenly a lot of pastry shops opening, and few are as good as Cadeaux. The presentation is beautiful and the taste is wonderful. The first time I had a kind of peanut butter filled pastry, but by "peanut butter" I am only referring to the flavour of the filling. The second time I had chocolate covered vanilla cheesecake, and I can say I have never had better. Highly recommended, and don't be put off by the location, which is an area that is rapidly changing.
