Lunch at the WAG

Submitted Thursday, May 25, 2017 - 6:50pm [Dine in]

It has been quite some time since visiting the WAG. I had a special occasion to lunch here today. Thank goodness we arrived early because they only had one server and a manager. The sunny day sure brought the folks out and service soon was affected. Margaret, the only waitress, did a fantastic job and she served both sides of this restaurant and never once wrote anything down. Margaret was very friendly and a definite asset to WASH GRILL.Now the food. Two people had the Fish and Chips . Two large pcs of tempura battered cod and a generous helping of fries. Both scored a 4/5. Fish tacos and yam fries scored only 2.5/5 very small nondescript pc of Fish ? Floors as per usual in their annex section was again dirty. The flooring is made of squares of rubber matting and the grooves between each is difficult to clean. Not at all something that diners need to walk on.
.Margaret the waitress was GREAT.

Refused to Serve Me

I work nearby and went to get some chow mein for lunch one day. There was a couple in front of me who ordered sandwiches, and when the owner asked what I wanted, she told me to come back later. I said I can't, I am going into meetings and that I can wait until she is done making the sandwiches no problem, to which she informed me she is too busy. I asked her if she was saying she won't serve me food, to which she waved bread around in the air and said she is too busy. Her husband was there also chopping veggies.... not impressed and will never go back.

Came here a few years ago with a friend of mine and we had VERY good food. The fettucini alfredo I ordered was fantastic (had a review, but that's probably gone now)

We came back last week; and it was really a 360 degree turn. They had a pasta special buy 2 for $20 which we thought was a good deal. I ordered fettucini alfredo; and my friend ordered lasagne....

Instead of bringing my friend lasange; they brought her spaghetti.....and my fettucini had no alfredo sauce, but was covered with oil. I had to ask them to give me alfredo sauce.....when they actually did my dish tasted really good.

I don't know; screwed up on my friends order....didn't put alfredo sauce when they should had and only did it when I asked. What did we get for compensation? NOTHING.....Not even an apology.

Might give them one more try down the road, but BEWARE!!!!!!

Toddler size portions and microwaved food from containers

I signed up just to post this. Will not be visiting this place again. We ordered a chicken shawarma wrap and chicken and falafel shawarma wrap. There was a family of 3 ahead of us. The portion of chicken on our orders were ridiculously small. It was literally a spoonful of chicken on the shawarma and falafel wrap. Everyone else around us watched in surprise and even laughed that this guy was actually serving us this. The previous time I ordered 2 lamb shawarma plates. The lamb which he used for our order had previously been put in a small container and microwaved before he split the tiny portion into our order. It tasted so bad and like it had been sitting out for a while. This was the last chance we gave this place. Never wasting our money here again. Such greedy people. Unbelievable.

THIS IS THE WORST PLACE EVER!!!! DONT EVER GO HERE!!!!!! I ordered food delivery and they forgot to deliver my soup and wonton. I called them to let them know but the driver did not want to make the trip back even though THEY ARE THE ONES WHO MADE THE MISTAKE!!!! I waited 45 minutes, I heard nothing, and my soup did not come. I contacted Just Eats since thats who I ordered from seeing as I had no luck. Apparently they told Just Eats that I was trying to get a refund out of them when all I wanted was the rest of my order. They REFUSED to even refund me the $5.50 for something I DIDNT EVEN GET!!!! When I called them to let them know how terrible their customer service was they HUNG UP ON ME. Yeah. WORST PLACE!!!!!! The food wasn't even good. Bad service. Bad food. Seriously do not support this restaurant.

Went for a quick coffee and snack on sunday afternoon. Had the chicken soup and cookie and coffee. Coffee was not good. The soup was not good either and did not come with any bun or crackers. The cookie tasted like pre-packaged from Costco. I would not waste my money on this place. There are many other options. Service was very average.

My last review has disappeared? Don't know if done here cleans out older reviews or not...But ill review this place again.
Great food...Meat and two veg kind of place.
I don't have any problems with the quality of the food...Except later in the when this get dry and old. but for lunch when it's fresh and hot...Yum.
My confusion is with the value.
I don't understand how some people can pay less and get more. I have bought several leaks over the years and each one seems to be inconsistent from the previous ones.
And I've watched large men pay for a small meal get more than I do when I pay for a regular meal. two dollars more. WTF? I suggest that if you want value from here.. you order the 8 dollar meal to est there..And you'll get at least more than paying for the 10 meal to go. You can always ask for take away contains for left overs. Better yet. Have some guy 6 plus foot ta weighting 250 and more order a small meal for you. This will get you a monstrous meal that could feed a small chinese family for a week....For the lowest price.

Tried to reward the kids with a pizza party for doing a great job cleaning up the school grounds. I thought that I was speaking English...But I must have been wrong. Some kids don't eat cheese nor meat... But there were no cheese less nor meatless options for the kids. Try explaining to ride and hungry kids how incompetent some adults can be.
And try to get satisfaction from calling the complaint line... Good luck on your orders. And good luck getting them to bother solving the problem in the time needed, or getting a refund.

I don't see what big deal is.
Cold doughnuts with a variety of toppings that fall off and make a mess on the carpet.
I don't know why the icing falls off with the toppings...But I would think that after a couple of weeks, the baker would work it out and solve the problem. Not keep on making the same mistake for 46 years...Unless she's given up. Good thing, "all dogs welcome inside." It wouldn't be hard to out do this shop with a bit better doughnut and better everything else.
I suggest that if you do want to buy these hockey pucks...You park at Starbucks and pick up your coffee on the way back. Screw Starbucks.

Favourite local hangout.

I go to this Starbucks every day and have for the last three years. The baristas there are friendly and efficient, and know our orders by heart. They always greet us with smiling faces.

My partner said he didn't like Starbucks but I persuaded him to go and now its his favorite coffee place. He likes it better than his local coffee place which roasts their own beans because at Starbuck's the coffee always turns out exactly the same. He likes a Mocha with 3 shots of dark chocolate. He used to drink a Tuxedo (dark and white chocolate mix) but a barista let him taste the chocolates, and he realized the white was too sweet and he just wanted the dark. He also prefers Starbucks because they always get his drink 190 degrees, and when he orders it hot at his other coffee house, they sometimes get it hot enough and sometimes don't.

I love this store, and everyone in it. MJ16

Great Italian Restaurant at a AWESOME price!
By vancouverpiggie of burnaby (53 Reviews)
Submitted Sunday, April 9, 2017 - 12:44am [Dine in]

This is probably one of the best bang for your buck italian restaurants in all of the greater vancouver regional district.

It's location is great - gas town.

It's price is very good when you factor in the freshness of the ingredients, taste and huge portions.

We came here tonight, party of 2.

The place is set up like a small, cozy brick cafe with a huge kitchen in the back due to the place also catering.

I assume because they cater, that allows them to provide fresh ingredients. Cheaper to buy in quantity.

This does not mean taste was sacrificed.

Everything is made IN HOUSE.

We ordered Gnocchi with Rustica Sauce, 3-kinds Ravioli (Mushroom, Spinach and Chicken) with Carbonara Sauce, Mixed Salad and Bean Vegetable Soup and ended the night with a chocolate brownie cake and tiramisu.

Gnocchi was chewie, great texture and fresh. The Rustica sauce was very flavorful, seasoned very well.

3-Kinds Ravioli was also very good, nothing much to say except very fresh and tasty.

The mixed salad was a delight. Most times, when you order mixed salads, it's just a few sad looking pieces of mixed leafy greens. This place tops it with cheese, long beans, cherry tomatos, roma tomatoes, asparagus - it's a party on a plate.

The bean soup was nice and thick - more like a hearty stew.

All this for only 67.00 and we had to pack up some stuff because we couldn't finish it all.

The waitresses are also super friendly and cute :)

Will be returning.

We ordered a 50th birthday chocolate cake but received a bland, 'milk chcolate,' buttery, salty, coffee tastingc cake...
By TrinityB of Vancovuer BC Canada (1 Review)
Submitted Friday, April 7, 2017 - 3:37pm [Dine in]

Unfortunately, the cake was terrible. It was for a 50th birthday (very special opportunity); we went there because we had been referred and our normal baker (Fratelli's) was away on holidays. We felt very disappointed in the cake, the service from head office staff and then the owner, afterward. It was bland, didn't taste like chocolate. It tasted more like butter, salt and a little bit of coffee. When we complained they justified it by saying they use milk chocolate, not dark chocolate, butter has salt in it and asked us if we were Chinese (?)...said they hadn't had a complaint in 41 years. So, apparently the take away is, if we were Chinese we would have been happy. We asked for our money back because we would never return and they said no.

Well, there's no more Pho Hoang. I really miss it! They made the best Bun Bo Hue in Metro Vancouver and they always had the best portions for your pho and very delicious soup! I always feel full after eating there! Now this new restaurant is overpriced for Vietnamese food, their portions are small, and the quality is average. The only thing they have going for them are the restaurant decor and their fantastic service! Hopefully, they can survive with that!

I tried this restaurant because I was in the area yesterday. It was the same as any other Vietnamese restaurants such as same portions and their soup were average. The only thing I didn't understand is why they charge $1 for extra bean sprouts when other Vietnamese restaurants do not? Other than that, nothing special.
